Duplicate places in Pleiades linked data
Resolved duplicate places are now identified in our RDF datasets
The Roman province of Rhodope (http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/991370#this) is the subject of the following triples in the places dataset:
<http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/991370#this> a <http://geovocab.org/spatial#Feature>; rdfs:label "Rhodope"; osspatial:within <http://atlantides.org/capgrids/101#L3>; pleiades:hasFeatureType <http://pleiades.stoa.org/vocabularies/place-types/province>; dcterms:coverage "Thracia"; rdfs:comment "An ancient place, cited: BAtlas 101 L3 Rhodope"; rdfs:seeAlso <http://openlibrary.org/works/OL8327792W>; skos:altLabel "Rhodope"; foaf:primaryTopicOf <http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/991370> .
Before yesterday there were similar triples for http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/1001888#this, but we've recently identified place 1001888 (Rhodope) as a duplicate of 991370 (Rhodope). All of the triples in which 1001888 is the subject have been replaced by a single triple.
<http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/1001888#this> owl:sameAs <http://pleiades.stoa.org//places/991370#this> .
Place 1001888 has been moved to http://pleiades.stoa.org/errata/1001888 and in the not too distant future we plan to begin regular exports of linked data for Pleiades errata. Between this and the sameAs links, we hope developers will have enough information to navigate through de-duplication and retraction in the Pleiades linked data.
