This new domain name will provide for a seamless transition from our beta site to production, without breaking any services or connections that partners build around our services. Pleiades identifiers

Places and Names derived from the Barrington Atlas now have permanent Pleiades IDs. These IDs have a permanent relationship to our URLs and to a series of identifiers already established for the BAtlas features themselves. For example, the bibliographic citation

has already been assigned the permanent identifier

in the Barrington Atlas digital registry. In Pleiades, this place is identified by the string

and it is under this rubric that future updates will be developed and cited. Users and systems working with legacy BAtlas citations or the corresponding registry identifiers can still link reliably to the new Pleiades places by way of a query interface as follows:
