Reference Wranglers Kickoff Meeting

The first meeting of the "Pleiades Reference Wranglers", an interest and action group devoted to managing and improving bibliographic data and references in the Pleiades gazetteer.

Pleiades needs your help to perform one of more of the following tasks on an on-going, volunteer basis as your time and other responsibilities permit:

  • Monitor new issues of one or another specific journal for articles related to ancient places and spaces, adding references to corresponding place resources in the gazetteer or adding whole new place resources as necessary
  • Perform similar work for new monographs and edited volumes
  • Review new bibliographic entries added to the Pleiades Zotero library for accuracy and completeness
  • Providing training and assistance to new Pleiades contributors on creating Zotero records and adding references to the gazetteer
  • Finding and correcting incomplete or unlinked references in existing Pleiades records
  • Other bibliographic and reference-related tasks

This online Zoom meeting will focus on possibilities, initial activities, and scheduling of recurrent working-group meetings. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 9 June 2026 at 10am US Eastern Time (click for your timezone). 

Registration in advance is required.

Please email at least 72 hours in advance of the start of the event to register. Registrants will be sent a calendar invitation including the Zoom link.
