How to cite articles in Wikipedia in Pleiades references.
Standard Short Titles
The Editorial College maintains individual records for each of the language-specific Wikipedia instances, each with its own short title following the pattern "Wikipedia (Language)". So, for example:
- Wikipedia (Arabic)
- Wikipedia (English)
- Wikipedia (French)
To add a reference to a Wikipedia article:
- Look up the work in Zotero by starting to type "Wikipedia" in the Short Title text box, then clicking on the corresponding entry to insert the URI into the Bibliographic URI text box.
- Select the Fetch Zotero button to automatically create and insert the Formatted Citation of the work.
- Manually enter the title of the article in the Citation Detail text box.
- Copy and paste the URI for the article from the browser location text box into the Access URI textbox in the Pleiades reference form.
Example
A citation of the "Benevento" article in the English-language Wikipedia should have the following fields in a Pleiades reference. Data inserted automatically from the Pleiades Zotero library is highlighted in yellow; manual or pasted entries are displayed in normal text.
short title | Wikipedia (English) |
