- S. Vincenzo al Volturno is a multi-period settlement. In pre-Roman times a phase of Samnite occupation has been identified. By the fifth century A.D. the site was occupied by a large agricultural estate (villa) that was abandoned in the later fifth century, only to be replaced by a Christian church.
