Place Korakou by Jeffrey Becker — last modified May 14, 2021 11:00 AM
Korakou is a hill located on the Corinthian Gulf near New Corinth. It rises to 35 m above sea level. Carl Blegen conducted excavations at the site in 1915 and 1916. Archaeological remains show continuous use from the Early Helladic (EH) to Late Helladic periods (LH). It is suggested that the site served as a Mycenaean emporion. By the Archaic period the abandoned site gives way to burials.

Place Monte Savello (Rome) by Jeffrey Becker — last modified May 31, 2022 03:49 PM
Monte Savello is an area located in Rome's Sant'Angelo district, between the pons Fabricius and the Capitoline Hill. Its status as 'monte' is owed to the fact that an artificial mound of debris accumulated in the area of the Circus Flaminius and the Theater of Marcellus, a mound that came to serve as a de facto quarry for spoliated building materials. "Savello" refers to the post-eleventh century incorporation of the area within the fortifications of the Savello family. Modern excavations have revealed Roman, post-Roman, Medieval, and more recent settlement horizons.
