An ancient city of southern Sri Lanka. It was characterized by Ptolemy as "sacred to Selene", a description repeated in the Arabic geographic tradition. An ancient settlement of India, mentioned by Ptolemy, that Vogel 1952 identifies with the Sanskrit toponym Paricakra in the Shatapatha Brahmana. BAtlDir tentatively locates it in the vicinity of a modern "Sakra" (a common placename). This modern town, based on the BAtlas coordinates, lies to the northeast of modern Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. It does not seem to appear in open, online gazetteers.

An ancient anchorage on the Mediterranean coast of modern Egypt mentioned by Ptolemy (Zygis limen) and in the Stadiasmus Maris Magni. This Zygris (not to be confused with another also mentioned by Ptolemy) has been identified since the early 20th century with a small, reef-walled bay whose name, Marsa Baqqush, has since come to denote the larger bay of which the Zygris anchorage is a part. Multiple ancient wrecks have been identified within and just outside this anchorage, and an extensive system of interconnected rock-cut cisterns, elliptically mentioned in the Stadiasmus, has been identified ashore.

The Zygritai were a Libyan people mentioned by Ptolemy and thought to have been localized in the vicinity of the ancient town of Zygris, for which Ptolemy separately provides coordinates. Desanges (whence RE) puts them in the vicinity of modern Sidi Barrani in Egypt's Matruh governorate. BAtlas writes the label just east of Sidi Barrani, between it and Marsa Matruh.
Modifications: Cleaned up references. Modified summary; removed New Pauly reference and explained why in modified details; cleaned up Desanges reference; added RE reference; toposText reference -> related; added TM reference Tom Elliott. Modified name attested; Greek; ptolemy reference thomase.
