The mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin dynasty of China, was built between 246 and 208 BCE. The mausoleum itself was outfitted with numerous ancillary features, including the famed "terracotta army" discovered in 1974. The site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
