The site was occupied from the Late Neolithic period (ca. 4000 BCE) through 354 BCE, when it was destroyed by the armies of Philip II. It was succeeded by a new settlement approximately 1km to the northwest; known as Macedonian Methone, this later settlement was occupied in the Hellenistic and Roman periods.40.467965 22.580909 40.468439 22.581102 40.469157 22.581606 40.469663 22.581960 40.469378 22.582561 40.469116 22.583054 40.468798 22.584395 40.465876 22.584031 40.465296 22.583902 40.465427 22.582861 40.465925 22.582250 40.466153 22.581520 40.466937 22.581016 40.467965 22.580909
