History
A modern settlement located in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka's North Western province. In the early 20th century, Roman bronze coins of the 4th and 5th centuries CE were reported to have been found in the vicinity.

The Sri Lanka Department of Archaeology's GIS App catalogues two monuments in Kalpitiya: the fort (late 17th century CE) and the Dutch Church (early 18th century CE). Both are listed as Archaeological Protected Monuments.
