The modern Sri Lankan city of Kandy (capital of Central Province), together with some nearby towns and villages, is reported as the find spot or place of purchase of ancient coins in the 20th century, including fourth-century Roman and imitation Roman bronze and punch-marked bronze, as well as early Sinhalese gold coins. Walburg 2023 expresses skepticism about the accuracy and completeness of several of the reports.
