The Lago di Massaciuccoli appears on Map 41 of the Barrington Atlas (grid square C2), but it is not named. In the introductory essay for Map 41 in the Map-by-Map Directory, W.V. Harris mentions the lake in the context of a brief discussion about the ancient hydrography of the territory around Pisa. Harris mentions that not only is there a need for more research about the ancient river courses, coastlines, lakes, and other features, but there is also some disagreement and inconsistency in both primary and secondary sources on the topic.
