The Pincian Hill in Rome likely takes its name from the Pincii, an ancient family. It is not considered a member of the canonical grouping of Rome's hills, but it did lie within the line of the walls built by Aurelian. In the early Imperial period, it is known as a zone of elaborate gardens, hence the moniker "collis hortulorum".
