A major flood in antiquity moved the channel of the Tigris, leaving Kashkar on the east bank. The city was supplanted by the new city of Wasit, built in the 8th century CE; Kashkar was subsequently abandoned. The original city is presumed to have lain somewhere in the vicinity of the modern residential area northeast of modern Wasit, across the heavily-controlled modern Tigris.32.460817 46.093496 32.459572 46.083334 32.459225 46.082381 32.457854 46.081167 32.457460 46.082437 32.457964 46.083409 32.457838 46.084268 32.456750 46.084399 32.455332 46.088321 32.454150 46.087742 32.456609 46.080196 32.458516 46.081148 32.460454 46.074424 32.459981 46.074143 32.460817 46.071621 32.461368 46.070856 32.462409 46.070015 32.463260 46.069866 32.464883 46.069940 32.465561 46.071621 32.463796 46.077076 32.464253 46.079430 32.463339 46.082830 32.464615 46.089218 32.462929 46.090059 32.463417 46.093178 32.460817 46.093496
