The Pons Sublicius is traditionally held to be the earliest Roman bridge across the river Tiber. The textual tradition assigns its construction to the king Ancus Marcius in 642 B.C. It crossed the Tiber near the Forum Boarium just downstream from the Tiber Island.

Ponte Mammolo is the modern name of an ancient bridge over the Aniene river. It gives its name to a neighborhood and metro station in the northeast part of the modern city of Rome. Archaeological evidence of ancient quarrying and a settlement have also been found in the vicinity of the bridge.
