Last week the Pleiades editorial college published 7 new place resources and approved updates to 175 existing place resources.

New Place Resources

  • Small settlement in southeastern Crete dated to the Middle-Late Minoan period.

  • Burial site in Armenia containing tombs dated to the Late Bronze-Early Iron Ages (22nd-5th centuries BCE).

  • A cave located on mount Ismaros near the ancient settlement of Maroneia in Aegean Thrace. The cave was in human use from the late Neolithic period until the abandonment of the fortified settlement in the 13th century CE. The cave is known locally as "The Cave of Polyphemos" or "The Cave of the Cyclops".

  • The so-called "Meta Romuli" was a pyramidal tomb located in the Ager Vaticanus at Rome. It likely dated to the first century BCE or the first century CE. Its extant superstructed was demolished in 1499. Remains of foundations and pavements that have been associated with the tomb were encountered in 1948-1949 during construction work in the first block of the north side of the present-day Via della Conciliazione.
