Ryan Horne Assumes Co-Managing Editor Role
Ryan replaces Ross Twele, who fulfilled this role during the 2013-2014 academic year. We are grateful for Ross's contribution to the on-going achievements of the Pleiades community and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Ryan is a PhD candidate in History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. This fall he became the Acting Director at the Ancient World Mapping Center at UNC-CH. For the last four years at the center he was a software developer and graduate research assistant, completing the Antiquity À-la-carte Application and a series of publicly accessible map-tiles that are used in maps on the Pleiades website and elsewhere, as well as the seamless, interactive online map for Dr. Duane Roller's new translation of Strabo's Geography. During his time at the AWMC, he served as both a contributor and Associate Editor for Pleiades.
Ryan recently participated in the Eric P. Newman Graduate Seminar in Numismatics in New York and in the Summer Session of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Ryan's research interests include Hellenistic history, numismatics, historical GIS, and the application of digital humanities to ancient history. Prior to undertaking graduate work, Ryan was a Software Engineer Associate at Lockheed Martin.
