In "(Not quite) moving mountains: recording volcanic landscapes in digital gazetteers," Pleiades Reviewer Stuart Dunn discusses an important challenge in building authoritative geographical datasets: landscape change over time. He points, by way of example, to work he's done recently—with support from Pleiades Editor Jeffrey Becker—to model Santorini, an island group in the Aegean Sea whose cultural and historical significance stretches back, through many significant geological changes, to the Bronze Age.
