The location is derived from information provided in the two articles by Shcheglov, who places the tumulus next to the road between the villages of Berezovskaya (formerly Tavkel'-Neyman) and Kashtanovka (formerly Kara-Merkit) (1989) and places it on a map in that location (1991). The more precise placement is based on the presence of two large tumuli visible next to that road between the villages in Google Earth satellite imagery, and on the presence of a tumulus in the same location on the detailed mid-20th c. map annotated by Smekalov at http://archmap.ru/91.htm.
