Pleiades

The place-names of the Hither Province settlements run north to south along the west coast of Messenia.

Likely geography of the Hither Province: (see Bennet 2011 p. 152 and Cosmopoulos 2006 p. 205-6)

  • North boundary: either the River Neda or the Kyparissia valley.
  • South boundary: Cape Akritas, somewhere north of modern Koroni.
  • West boundary: the coast of Messenia.
  • East boundary: Mount Aigaleon.
