A long, narrow island in antiquity, paralleling a section of the southwest Iberian coast, partly sheltering the ancient Oleastrum lacus. A sanctuary of Herakles was located at its southern end. The ancient city of Gades (Cádiz) occupied a smaller island immediately to the northwest of Cotinussa.
