Metagonium Promontorium may be the modern-day Cap Bougaroûn. It is a cape that forms the western end of the Gulf of Skikda. It lies opposite the Cap de Fer and is the northernmost point of Algeria.

The Barrington Atlas Directory notes: Cap Bougaroun. Some uncertainty remains about the precise identification and location of Metagonium. Strabo (17.3.9) mentions a cape called Treton, which D. Roller (2017) suggests may be the modern Cape Seba Rous, which has also been correlated with Cap Bougaroûn. The question remains, then, whether Treton and Metagonium are the same place or different places.
