Barrington Atlas: BAtlas 43 C2 Clodio
The Barrington Atlas Directory notes: Clodio, so-called Villa of Clodius. Research conducted by Aarhus University ca. 2018 at the 13th mile of the Via Appia offered new interpretations of the archaeological remains on the grounds of the Villa S. Caterina at Castelgandolfo. These remains, based at least in part on Cicero, have traditionally been ascribed to a villa owned by Publius Clodius Pulcher. The more recent interpretation suggests that the remains here studied and published in the 19th and 20th centuries by Antonio Nibby, Luigi Canina, and Giuseppe Lugli might be attributable to a sanctuary of the Bona Dea.
