An ancient place mentioned in the correspondence of Pope Gregory the Great (ca.  540 – 12 March 604) wherein Gregory permits the Bishop of Velletri to transfer his seat from Velletri to Arenata. This may refer to the modern comune of Rocca Massima in the Latina province.
