An ancient settlement at Punta Secca on Sicily's southern coast. Many scholars have long identified it as a "Kaukana" mentioned by Ptolemy and Procopius, and this identification has been reflected in modern toponymy and in the scholarly literature. It has been rejected -- because there is no natural harbor at Punta Secca -- by R.J.A. Wilson in favor of an as-yet-unlocated position on the coast somewhere east of Capo Scalambri.
