The villa was discovered in 1942 during construction work connected to the Camposanto. It is built on two sloping terraces with the residential area occupying the upper terrace. The lower terrace includes a bath complex. The complex dates to the later first century B.C., although there may have been an earlier phase. Many rooms have mosaic floor pavements.
