History
The ancient Thracian city of Xantheia, located somewhere in the vicinity of ancient Maroneia (modern Ag. Kharalabos in the Greek administrative region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace). No archaeological evidence connects the ancient city with the more recent location that now bears its name. BAtlas tentatively and approximately placed (hollow symbol) ancient Xantheia some 50 kilometers east-southeast of modern Xanthi and 7 kilometers west of ancient Maroneia.
