History
An ancient "emporion" listed by Ptolemy among places in the chora of Pandion, around the Argarikos Kolpos (the modern Palk Bay), so therefore in modern Tamil Nadu. BAtlDir did not place it on the map; whereas Dayalan 2019 ventures a possible identification with Alagankulam (q.v.).
