The ancient Rhyndakos river has been identified with the modern Mustafakemalpaşa Çayı, which flows through the modern Uluabat Gölü (ancient Miletopolitis/Apolloniatis) and then into a lower course of what is now known as the Simav Çayı, ultimately emptying into the Propontis (modern Sea of Marmara).
