History
A fragmentary inscription, probably dating to the third century BCE, records a boundary dispute and arbitrated demarcation of territory between the Phanoteioi and the Steirioi. The inscription, possibly not in situ, was found between Phanoteus and Chaironeia (rather far from Stiris). It is unclear where the disputed territory was located.
