Pharis or Phare was an ancient site in Laconia located in the Spartan plain along the route leading from Amyclae to the coast. It was abandoned by Pausanias' day. Shipley ventures a tentative identification with the area of modern Vapheio where there is evidence for a Bronze Age settlement with tholos tomb.
