Near Artemida/Loutsa in modern Attiki, the archaeological remains of a temple in the Doric order were first identified in 1956. Excavators identified the sanctuary as belonging to Artemis Tauropolos. The compilers of the Barrington Atlas, in keeping with the discussion offered in PECS by C.W.J. Eliot, associate the temple site with the deme of Halai Araphenides.
