Oropos was an ancient settlement and port located on the border between Boeotia and Attica; the bulk of its Hellenistic - Roman remains are thought to underlie the modern village of Skala Oropou. Oropos was source of ongoing disputes in antiquity. Colonists from Eretria founded Oropos.
