Ancient springs, mentioned by Livy in his account of the military campaign of Gnaeus Manlius Vulso (consul of 189 BCE) in "Gallograecia" in Asia Minor. Scholars identify these "fontes" with the water source (Pınarbaşı) feeding the modern Karakuyu/Çapalı Gölü in Turkey's Afyonkarahisar province.
