Archaeological evidence of a coastal station, with associated settlement and fortifications have been identified at this small bay on the mountainous mainland coast of ancient Rough Cilicia (in modern Turkey's Mersin province). It is probably to be identified with the ancient names Palaia(i)/Philaia.
