The Temple of Venus (VIII,1) is located adjacent to Pompeii's Porta Marina. The site was cleared in the early year's of the colony to make way for the temple. Seriously damaged by the AD 62 earthquake, the sanctuary was still being rebuilt at the time of its ultimate destruction.
