A multi-period group of mounds in central Mesopotamia (modern Al-Warka District of Iraq), by which passes the modern Basra-Baghdad highway (national highway 1). The site lies about 15 kilometers to the north of the modern town of Al-Warka and about 25 kilometers north-northwest of the ancient site of Uruk. It is not to be confused with Banat al-Hassan in Anbar province, northwest of Baghdad.
