el-Bara (also Bara or al-Bara (Arabic: بارة)) is numbered among one of the so-called "Dead Cities" of northwestern Syria. The settlement originates in the fourth century CE and flourishes during the fifth and sixth centuries. It benefited from a favorable position along the route between Antioch and Apamea.
