Samuel Lysons excavated a Roman villa at Frampton (Dorset) in 1796. Its unusual mosaics were a subject of keen interest, even attracting the attention of George III. The villa was thought to have been demolished, but Bournemouth University demonstrated that remains of the villa can still be identified in situ in 2019.
