Isca was a common ancient river name, with at least 8 instances in Britain (5 attested as Ισκα/Isca and 3 presume from later Esk/Uxe) and many possible relatives on the Continent (Ijssel, Isel, Isen, Istra) which were important travel routs. See www.romaneranames.uk/i/isca.pdf
