there is something odd about this place. BA DIR (p. 1218) lists Assyria Aulia = Metroon and places it SW of Sinope. The map (BAtlas 86) then labels Assyria as a region SW of Sinope.

Jeff, my reading of the directory is that there is no "Assyria Aulia" place. The Aulia=Metroon entry seems to be a special case, restating the existing "Metroon/Aulia" entry. Tom?

Looking at the RE citation, it seems like this should maybe be converted to an ethnic group name and probably retitled to Leukosyrioi or Assyrioi. (It would be really great if this didn't come up as the first hit for "Assyria"!)
