Last week we published 3 new place resources. In addition, 5 existing place resources were updated.

New Place Resources

  • Cathedral in Faras founded in 620, rebuilt in the 8th and 10th centuries that was the seat of the Diocese of Faras. The site had well-preserved wall paintings from the 8th-9th centuries. This cathedral was flooded by the creation of Lake Nasser in the 1960s.

  • A church and possible monastic complex identified in 2021/2022 on modern Siniyah Island in the emirate of Umm al-Quwain, UAE.

  • Originally the Saite tomb of Ankh-Hor, this site was reused from the 4th century BCE by the Late Dynastic/Ptolemaic period family of Pa-di-Amun-neb-nesut-tawy, a high-ranking priest of Khonsu.
