Cathedral in Faras founded in 620, rebuilt in the 8th and 10th centuries that was the seat of the Diocese of Faras. The site had well-preserved wall paintings from the 8th-9th centuries. This cathedral was flooded by the creation of Lake Nasser in the 1960s.
