Pleiades

The archaeological site of Gobero in modern Niger consists of approximately 200 burials and associated settlements. Three phases of substantial occupation extend from 7700 BCE to 2500 BCE, with a hiatus from 6200 BCE to 5200 BCE. During these periods the site was on the shore of a lake that subsequently became arid. A fourth phase is typified by transient occupation and ends in the fourth century BCE.
