Henchir el Khaway is located on the southwest coast of the island of Djerba, in the northwest outskirts of modern Tunisian village of Guellala. The settlement here was founded at least as early as the fifth century BCE. Its longevity and development are attested by archaeological evidence (both terrestrial and maritime/submerged) dating well into late antiquity.
