Reported by multiple ancient sources in the context of a meeting between Octavian and Antony in 43 BCE, the Lavinius appears to have been a left-hand tributary of the ancient Rhenus (the modern Reno in Italy's Po watershed). Sources place the island venue of the meeting relative to Bononia and/or Mutina (RE after Nissen). BAtlDir tentatively equates the modern Samoggia with the Lavinius, but on BAtlas 40 the label "Lavinius?" is applied to a "torrente" that OSM names "Lavinius" (sic), the "Samoggia" in OSM being a separate "torrente" to the west that remains unlabeled in BAtlas 40. No Latin source appears to have preserved the name.
