The archaeological site of Lago dell’Accesa, in the locality known as "La Pesta", is situated nearby the lake of Lago dell'Accesa. The site was situated so as to exploit local mineral resources and the archaeological remains provide extensive evidence for habitation from the ninth through sixth centuries B.C.

The Barrington Atlas Directory notes: Lago dell’ Accesa

The archaeological site of Lago dell’Accesa was excavated by Doro Levi and Gaetano Badii between 1922 and 1936. Excavations directed by Giovannangelo Camporeale resumed in 1980. In 2001, Camporeale's team discovered the nearby necropolis of Podere del Lago.
