An ancient river of Picenum, mentioned by Strabo and Ptolemy, which is to be identified with the modern Terrente Piomba. The ancient Latin name is reflected in that of a coastal road station labeled on the Peutinger map (Macrinum), whence (correcting "c" to "t" after the Greek sources) BAtlas "Matrinus? fl."
