The Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City is currently a Renaissance edifice standing on the site of Old St. Peter's Basilica, a church built by Constantine I between AD 319 and 333. The holy site is located on the Mons Vaticanus in connection with the purported site of the burial of the Christian Saint Peter.
