The so-called Hypogeum of the Garlands was discovered in 2000 in a remarkably well-preserved condition, with the original stone that sealed the sepulchral chamber still in situ. Inside the chamber were the remains of three humans in an unusually pristine state of preservation. Two of these individuals were entombed in stone sarcophagi. These individuals are identified by means of sepulchral inscription: a male of 18 years of age named Carvilius Gemellus and his mother, Aebutia Quarta.
